Description
The Beatles - 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' - 1967 original mono album on the yellow black Parlophone label - PMC 7027. Matrix numbers are XEX 637-1 with the number 1 followed by a faint 0 at approx. 3 o'clock and the letters RMG at approx. 9 o'clock (side 1) and XEX 638-1 with the number 9 at approx 3 o'clock and RRH at 9 o'clock on side 2. Has the 'Gramophone Co Ltd' and 'Sold in the UK' label text as well as the KT tax code impressed on the side 2 label. This is one of a number of Beatles albums that I will be selling from my own collection.
The LP is in nice condition retaining good lustre. It has been well played demonstrated by spindle marks to the labels and evident hairline marking noticeable when the LP is held to the light but playback remains excellent with really very little surface noise (in fact generally not noticeable) and no diminution in sound quality. Definitely justifies a grading of EX.
Comes with the original red and white inner sleeve - this has been repaired internally with tape to the bottom seam (no other splits). It has a green felt tip mark to one side and some marking / blotching to the edge of one side and bottom corner - I would grade strictly as G+ but still remains presentable.
The gatefold Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve is again in nice condition - very clean with only a little finger wear and very minor cracking to the laminate (has not peeled). Spine has minor wear - writing does remain fully legible. There is alittle wear to the edges of the inside 'flip backs'. I think EX is again fully justified as a grading.
The cut-out insert is present and has very minor wear only - EX if not better.
