Stampers , Side One ( 2 RTR ) - Side Two ..( 7 MRM ) This is a 1967 UK First Press MONO Sgt Pepper Album is The Rare First Print WIDE SPINE Edition IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, VERY CLEAN.
First Mono.Copy with Garrod & Lofthouse Lamenated Flipback MONO Gatefold Sleeve"s and DARK GREEN Sgt Pepper Cut Out Inserts it also has track 6 on side 2 which later copies I believe did not have.
Yellow & Black PMC MONO Parlophone Labels With The ( Gramophone co Ltd .Rim Print. and SOLD IN THE UK Above Print MONO Garrod & Lofthouse Lamenated Flipback WIDE SPINE Sleeve is in EXCELLENT Condition, .Lovely Clean Thick Glossy Lamenation with intact Seams & Edges, The Original DARK GREEN Cut Out Insert is in MINT Condition.
SLEEVE
The laminated sleeve is in Excellent Condition minor wear but nothing major, spine still square and not flantened at all - SUPERB
VINYL
Original VERY THICK VINYL in strong light has fine paper marks but NO deep scratches etc - LABELS excellent - no marks etc
SOUND
I think this MONO record sounds better than the stereo version, there are crackles / static but no loud pops, no jumps, no sticks - for this early record I hink its FANTASTIC and would prob rate as EXCELLENT for that reason - SUPERB
A BIT ABOUT STAMPERS
The Mono LPs "PMC" Prefix
The Stereo LPs "PCS" Prefix
The mono LPs were numbered with "PMC" prefix on center-right of the label, in the same way, the stereo LPs were numbered with "PCS" prefix. And you can see on the label of the stereo LPs, the word "STEREO" on gold ribbon was printed on the center of the label still more.
Mono and Stereo ... Label Variation #2: Prefix of Stamper Number
Mono (PMC) label using: XEX. ( you can see each label and inner groove both side 1 and 2)
Stereo (PCs, P-PCS) label using: YEX. ( You can see each label and inner groove both side 1 and 2)
At the "6 O'clock" position on the inner groove area is the matrix number with a -1 or -2 etc.
For instance, THIS RECORD is XEX -1
The "1" means the FIRST LACQUER cut from the master. -2 the second etc.
At the "9 O'clock" is a number which tell you what "mother" was used to generate the stamper actually used the press the record. A number of "mothers" are generated from the lacquer. Obviously a "1" means
first mother generated from the lacquer. A "5" means it was much later--the fifth mother generated from the lacquer.
At the "3 O'clock" position there will be one to three letters, which are codes associated with numbers as follows, which tell you what stamper was used to press the actual record:
