Description

The Beatles - 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. PMC 7027

The Beatles 1967 UK 1st MONO pressing of the 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' album. Released on the 1st June 1967, it is offered here fully complete with ALL INSERTS.

'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' is widely regarded as The Beatles finest and most creative work with the mono version being the more desirable of the two variations. Upon it's release in 1967 it was instantly acclaimed a masterpiece by critics from the pop and established music world alike. It is often described as the greatest and most groundbreaking album ever produced to which I must humbly agree. Quite simply marvelous.

Released on the yellow and black Parlophone label both sides feature the 'Sold in UK....' text and have 'The Gramophone Co Ltd.' rim print. The 'KT' tax code is embossed on the side one label. This copy has a rare label error of having an additional '.' (dot) within the 'Sold in UK...' text line on side one only (side two is correct). Take a look at the lines and pictures below for a clear idea.

SIDE ONE: SOLD IN .U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS

SIDE TWO: SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS

The vinyl comes housed within the original 'psychedelic flame' inner sleeve with the correct 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN PATENTS APPLIED FOR' text printed to the bottom right hand corner. The Sgt Peppers cutout sheet is also fully complete. The mono vinyl comes complete with the correct MONO ONLY sleeve which is also in good condition. A nice example of this much sought after groundbreaking album.

The Matrix numbers are:

Side 1. XEX 637-1 GPL 2

Side 2. XEX 638-1 GPD 2

Sleeve: VG Front of the cover is in excellent shape. The spine, however shows considerable wear as well as the opening.

Record: VG visually but plays VG+ still retains original gloss and most markings are superficial hairlines

Truly a nice copy of this hard to find complete original 1st UK MONO pressing of one of the most famous albums of ALL TIME!!
