Description

THE BEATLES SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND parlophone pcs 7027 yex 637-1 / yex 638-1
As mentioned above,
The laminated UK gatefold cover for this release is conservatively rated VG; it’s solid, all there, with the usual shelf/edge/corner wear but no splits. Inside gatefold with the “foldover ” or “flip back” top edge is in really nice shape..great colors still! .. the vinyl is rated the same; conservatively rated VG; has some smudges & “hairlines”/scuffs but nothing deep..record has been play-tested; I can’t believe how great this UK version sounds compared to any Capitol pressing I’ve ever heard..great bass & highs, very clear vocals, everything mixed perfectly with an audio quality that needs to be heard..there are some light ticks and some static between tracks and during quiet parts but it quickly disappears once the music gets going... This is most likely a late ‘67-early ‘68 pressing ; it has the full Sgt Pepper cut-out insert but is the first pressing with the “patent applied for” generic inner sleeve..not the psychedelic “The Fool” reddish inner sleeve. Also it doesn’t have the “tax code” around one spindle hole but everything else is just as the April 1967 original pressings..
It’s a really profound experience to listen to this, especially for those of us on the other side of the pond that never got to hear how this LP was originally supposed to sound!
*A review of this particular pressing from “Dr.Music” on Discogs…
“I recently bought a close to NM copy of this 2nd pressing. The sound is fantastic, especially compared to US/Canada Capitol Records pressings. The bass is very present and the vocals are clear and upfront. I prefer the mono mix just due to the vocals not being centred on the stereo, but that’s a minor issue. Has the same early -1/-1 stampers as the 1st UK pressing.”

  • $3.85 USPS Media Mail Shipping in the Continental U.S.

Vinyl will be placed in it’s own anti-static sheath, separate from its cover, with the cover in its own clear sheath, sandwiched between two cardboard spacers & well packed in a standard record mailer…

*Records have been given a basic cleaning, but I would recommend a proper cleaning to get even better sound and performance!

    Thank you
