The very first 1967 pressing of the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band vinyl Album in MONO by the Beatles with fourth proof cover
“Fourth Proof” cover.
This very very rare unique cover! The “Fourth Proof” cover represents the earliest possible pressing of the Sgt Pepper cover. The Fourth Proof was the final version of the various ‘prototypes’ that were explored by the Beatles when the cover was being designed. The cover (and text) was approved by the Beatles and an initial very small ‘test’ run was undertaken to make sure everything looked OK. This small test run is characterised by the inverted “Fourth Proof” text in the top right hand corner of the inner gatefold – just above George Harrison’s head. This is therefore the earliest possible ‘prototype’ (test pressing) cover. Same fold-back have can printed text “AR D1321? which was probably the reference number for the prototype text that was used

For the matrix and stampers, this is what I can see under a magnifying glass. SIDE 1 = XEX 637-1 with, also what looks like ADR and 4. SIDE 2 = XEX 638-1 and RHH and 9.
The Cover
The front of the cover is in excellent condition with slight shelf wear and some light creasing. The Back of the cover is in excellent condition again with some light shelf wear. The spine is excellent with the lettering very clear.
Opening edge is straight with slight feathering.

The Centre Labels
The centre labels on both sides are in excellent condition with some very light spindle wear.

The Vinyl
The Vinyl on both sides are in near mint condition and play well there is the odd very fine mark in the right light.
The record plays with No skips, No jumps or NO heavy crackle with an overall excellent audio grading. Very clear crisp audio with some very light background crackle in between tracks.
Postage
All items are shipped 2nd class UK or if bid is over £20 will be signed for. Worldwide is standard postage unless bid is over £20 then it will be tracked and signed for. I do combine postage for multiple purchases (Please inform me you are bidding on other items so I don't open an unpaid item case). I professionally package using mailers and stiffners and all records are removed from the cover and placed in separate inners.
