Description

BEATLES UK – ABBEY ROAD LP – RARE LABEL.

1969 PCS 7088 - APPLE RECORD LABEL.

An original UK second press album in 100% original condition featuring a very RARE record label variant on side Two. I think this label variant is a result of the printing plates being changed.. for what ever reason ! as this label variant is very unusual. The positioning of the text on these Apple labels had been well established with the first press Beatles White Album and Yellow Submarine LPs, so why this variant ?, its a mystery !. If you look at the Green side of the label (see photos) you will see that the label text layout is normal BUT on side Two the White Apple side… the text ‘ 33 1/3 ’ and ‘ PCS 7088’ have been moved to the bottom !, this text usually appears in middle !.

This LP is a very early second pressing as it has its original black inner sleeve.

Also there is NO mention of the song ‘Her Majesty’ on the record label, but the song DOES play on the record !.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The spine is in very good condition and all the text is clear. There is a small ‘nick’, 10mm on One side of the opening edge at the rear.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, it is the original BLACK inner sleeve. This is the original period black inner sleeve and has NOT been replaced. These black inner sleeves were the same as the black inner sleeves that came with the first press White Albums and first press Yellow Submarine LPs. There is NO edge rubbing wear or splits, there is some creasing and a small 10mm ‘ nick’ to One side of the opening edge.

THE VINYL: side One is in near excellent condition, side Two is in very good++ condition. The vinyl is made from thick, heavy vinyl. The vinyl is very dark and very glossy.

The Matrix is: YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1,

The Mother/Stampers are : 8 G L A and 8 R A A.

THE AUDIO: is excellent, a real pleasure to hear, a brilliant clear audio. The vinyl lays flat on the turntable and plays without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS: are in near excellent condition and being a very early pressing show a DARK Green Apple on one side, there is NO mention of the song ‘Her Majesty’ on the label on side Two, but this song DOES play on the record !. As mentioned, there is a very RARE label text positioning variant layout on side Two, the white colour side of the labels. This features a different text positioning of the text ‘ 33 1/3’ and PCS 7088’. Also on side Two of the label ‘ someone ’ has written the text ‘ G 4 8 1 ’ in black pen !, I dont know what this refers to…could it be original EMI ‘ proof ’ text ?.. was this label layout an error ? and should it have been discarded ?.... I dont know !

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback, I have received a negative feedback recently. This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !, I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !
