Description
BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, mis pressed sleeve and a wider, pinched spine.
1969 PCS 7088 - Apple record labels.
An early UK issue album in original condition, featuring:
1. the sleeve, front and rear has been mis pressed at the EMI factory !. As there is a long crease to the front of the sleeve and a shorter crease on the rear, bottom right corner, see photos. This mis press went un noticed as the laminate was placed over the mis pressed sleeve. The sleeve then managed to get past EMIs quality control inspection ! and out into the shops !,
2. the spine on the sleeve is more unusual as it is a ‘wide’ spine, it measures a width of 3.5mm. Earlier sleeves for this lp had a ‘flat’ spine, but the spine on this sleeve has a more noticeable ‘square’ edge profile to it. The spine also has ‘pinched’ ends, top and bottom,
3. The record labels have a more noticeable variation to them as the text ‘33 1 / 3’, each side has been printed larger and is printed away from the left hand margin !,
4. on side two of the record label the track, ‘Her Majesty’ is printed, but this track is not printed on the rear of the sleeve !,
5. as the record is a very early issue, the record label on side one has a dark green apple colour,
6. comes with its original period, ‘Apple copywrite’ inner sleeve.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near MINT condition. The sleeve is fully laminated. This laminate is in near MINT condition, there is just one small thumb crease to the front. The laminate is in remarkable condition as it has remained free from any ‘scuffing’ and any ‘indentations’. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The four corners of the sleeve have remained in near MINT condition. The unusual ‘thicker’ spine with pinched ends is in near MINT condition, it has remained clean fresh and white in colour and all the text on the spine is clear to read. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original ‘Apple copywrite’ period EMI sleeve. The two opening edges have remained very clean. A well preserved sleeve that has remained clean and white in colour for its age. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a slight split to the bottom edge and some slight age related marks here and there.
THE RECORD: side one is in very good++ condition. Side two is in near MINT condition. The record is made from the period quality 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 3 P R T ’ and ‘1 P A A’,
THE AUDIO: side one, the audio is excellent+, I did hear some light crackle at the beginning of the first track that lasted approximately one and a half minutes, the rest of side one plays with excellent quiet grooves. Side two, plays excellent+, again I did hear some light crackle at the beginning of the first track that lasted for approximately one and a half minutes, the rest of side two plays with excellent quiet grooves. The record plays with an excellent clear, full powerful period stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in excellent+ condition. Side two is in excellent condition. As this is a very early issue, side one shows a DARK green apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
