PCS 3071, early UK black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. an unusual sleeve variant as the UK laminated, ‘flip back’ sleeve does not have a ‘stereo’ logo printed on the front, top right of the sleeve !. Nearly all of the stereo sleeves of ‘Help’, printed in the 1960s had a medium size, ‘outlined’ stereo logo printed on the front, top right of the sleeve !,

2. more unusual record labels, as:

a. side one features the ‘asterisk’, ie ‘*’, printed in front of the title track of, ‘I need you’. This ‘asterisk’ is usually seen after this track title on the more regular seen labels,

b. side two features a completely different text layout, as the text layout has been ‘adjusted’ to give the layout of the text a more ‘compact’ appearance,

3. the record features a ‘deep groove’ appearance, seen more when the record is ‘tilted’ to the light,

4. on record label one, there is and additional ‘dot’ within the text, ‘Sold in U.K.’ etc, as it reads, ‘Sold in .U.K.’ etc. The record label on side two does not have this additional ‘dot’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the front is laminated. An excellent well preserved fresh white sleeve. To the front right hand side there are just two light ‘thumb’ creases to the laminate. The two opening edges have remained clean and sharp. The four corners of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in excellent++ condition, the spine has remained an excellent fresh clean white in colour and all the text is clear to read. The rear for the sleeve has remained an excellent fresh clean white in colour. The rear of the sleeve has the period 1960s, ‘tri flip back’ design, ie flip over edge design. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original period EMI red and white advertising sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue to the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: side one is in near MINT condition, the condition of the playing surfaces have been judged under normal ‘daylight’ conditions. Side two is in MINT condition, again the condition of the playing surfaces have been judged under normal ‘daylight’ conditions. The record looks hardly played, it looks like new, it has remained very dark and glossy. The record is made from the period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are: YEX 168 – 1 and YEX 169 – 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘2 AG’ and ‘3 PD’.

THE AUDIO: each side plays excellent++, a near perfect audio. Each side plays with excellent quiet grooves. The record plays with a full, powerful period stereo sound from its ‘deep grooves’. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in MINT condition. Side two is in excellent++ condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels look as if the record has been hardly played. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers and sticker residue.
