BEATLES UK - WITH THE BEATLES, EARLY MONO.

1963 PMC 1206 -  Yellow and Black Parlophone Label.

An early UK Mono copy in 100% original condition.  Featuring an unusual front sleeve photo, as although this is the misprinted ‘darker’ sleeve,  it is not the  ‘Grainy’ (ie less clear) photo, proving this to be a rare transition photo to move away from the early grainy very dark photo image.  This sleeve photo was soon changed to  a much lighter photo.

Not only is the sleeve the more unusual  ‘E J Day’ sleeve,  but  the rear  has the spelling,  ‘You really  got a hold on me’.  On these early sleeves this was nearly always printed as   ‘You really gotta hold on me’ !.

Unusually  there is an  ‘MTK’  embossed onto side One of the record label. 

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  is in very good++  condition.  The laminated front  of the sleeve is in excellent condition with NO  thumb ceases on, it has a large black ‘solid’  Mono on the front.  It features a tri flipback design to the rear, all the flipbacks are well stuck down.  The sleeve is printed by E J Day,   the spine  is  very good and all the text is readable.  The unlaminated rear of the sleeve is very, very clean and white with  NO  pen writing,   a very clean, solid original  sleeve.   The sleeve features the corrected spelling of  the song title ‘Got a’, for the track, ‘You really Got a hold on me’ !  which is unusual  for a  1 / 1 matrix record as  most of these early sleeves had the spelling of  ‘ Gotta hold on me’ !.   The rear of the sleeve has some age marks otherwise a near excellent sleeve.

INNER SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition and is the original polylined  Emitex sleeve,   it is very clean and white for its age.   There is NO edge wear,   tears or stains.

VINYL:  is in very good  condition,   the vinyl  is made  from the period sixties  ‘thick, heavy’  vinyl,   it is dark and has a high gloss.  The Matrix nos. are:   XEX 447 – 1N   and   XEX 448 – 1N,   the Mother/Stampers are:    ‘ 3    G D M ’  and  ‘ 1  0    A  M ’.

AUDIO:   is excellent,   it plays really well all the way through,  it lays flat on the turntable and plays with NO jumps or skips.  It plays with a terrific powerful period Mono sound, there is little to spoil the excellent audio listening pleasure.  

THE LABELS:  are  in very good condition,  there is a ‘MTK’ embossed on side One of the label.   The  label spells the song title as the corrected ‘ You really got a hold on me’.   The publishing credit for the song  ‘Money’ is show as   ‘Dominion’.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
