Description
BEATLES UK – Please Please Me, black and gold labels, uncorrected Dick James, first issue UK 1963 original mono labels.
PMC 1202 – first 1963 UK issue on the original black and gold Parlophone labels.
A UK album in original condition, featuring:
1. original first UK mono issue on the black and gold Parlophone record labels with the first UK issue un corrected ‘Dick James Mus. Co’ record labels. The Lennon/McCartney tracks, ‘I saw her standing there’, ‘Misery’, ‘Do you want to know a secret’ and ‘Theres a place’, ‘should’ have been listed on the record labels under ‘Northern Songs Ltd’, but these tracks were incorrectly listed under ‘Dick James Mus. Co’. The labels were soon corrected to read ‘Northern Songs Ltd’,
2. comes with its original UK first issue mono sleeve, made of the period ‘thick and heavy’ card. The photographers credit lines up with the letter ‘S’, the last letter on the word ‘Songs’ on the front bottom, right hand corner of the sleeve,
3. earliest ‘mothers’, each side of the record, being: ‘1’ and ‘1’,
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in ‘good’ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The spine is in good++ condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original 1960s period ‘tri’ - ‘flip back’ design. The two opening edges have some ‘nicks’ and some fraying. To the rear middle opening edge has a small piece of the edge missing. On the rear each of the album tracks has been underlined with blue pen and a signature has been written a number of times in pen on the rear. There is some old cellotape residue to the top and bottom edge of the sleeve. The top edge of the sleeve has a split 2/3 long. There is an old cellotape repair to the rear bottom ‘flip back’. 70mm of the rear top, right ‘flip back’ is missing. 15mm of the rear bottom, right ‘flip back’ is missing and 40mm of the rear bottom, left ‘flip back’ is missing. There is a split along most of the bottom edge.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in ‘good+’ condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve. There are some ‘nicks’ and some ‘fraying’ to the two opening edges. There is a slight split to one of the side edges. One of the ‘die cut’ holes has two 10mm tears around it and two small ‘nicks’, the other side of the sleeve, the ‘die cut’ hole has one 10mm tear and three ‘nicks’. Theres NO pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.
THE RECORD: side one is in good++ condition. Side two is in near very good condition. The record is made from the original period, 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.
The matrix are: XEX 421 – 1N and XEX 422 – 1N,
The mother/stampers are: ‘1 P’ and ‘1 L’, very early ‘mothers’,
THE AUDIO: side one plays near very good, it plays with some light ‘crackle’ and some ‘ticks’ heard here and there. On track seven half way through the needle ‘sticks’. Side two plays very good+, it plays with some light ‘crackle’ and some ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The record plays with a full loud, powerful period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: are in very good+ condition, each label has retained its excellent clear bold, gold print. On each label there is some ‘whitening’ around the spindle hole. Each label is free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
