BEATLES UK – Revolver, original mono, rare ridged labels.

PMC 7009 - original 1966 mono yellow & black Parlophone labels.

An original UK album in original condition, featuring:

a. each of the record labels have an unusual ridge each side, but the ridges are different. Some believe these rare ridged labels are from a contract source, but the records mother / stampers suggest that the record was pressed at EMI. I believe that these very hard to find ‘ridged labels’ were pressed from a ‘rogue’ pressing machine that EMI had bought back into service for a short time. The ridges themselves are curious, the ridge on side one is 10mm from the outer edge of the label and appears more ‘shallow’ in appearance, the ridge on side two, again is 10mm from the outer edge of the label but is more pronounced,

b. each label has  an unusual textured surface.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The spine is in very good+ condition and all the text is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the tri flipback design. There are NO tears, pen writing, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue.   

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original period EMI black and white advertising sleeve. A very clean, white sleeve for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

The matrix are :   XEX 605 - 2  and  XEX 606 – 2,

The mother / stampers are:  ‘ 4   L  T ’  and  ‘ 2   P ’.

THE AUDIO: is excellent, on side one, track five I did hear some light ‘ticks after the first minute of play, this lasted for about one minute, side two plays excellent. It plays with an impressive clear, loud period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable. 

THE LABELS: are in very good condition. There are the letters ‘K T’ embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
