Description

BEATLES UK – ‘Sgt Pepper’ mis pressed label, original mono.

PMC 7027 – black and yellow Parlophone labels.

A 1967 UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. a hard to find mis pressed copy, only printed in a very small number, as the record label on side two, the track ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the record label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, that the track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, maybe it was that fact why the track was left off the label !. The reference to the track was never removed from the sleeve,

2. to the rear of the sleeve, to the bottom right, there is the line of text that states, ‘Patents Pending’, only a small number of these very early flipback mono sleeves had this line of text.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, it is fully laminated. An original UK mono ‘flipback’ gatefold sleeve. The spine is in very good+ condition with some ‘scuffing’ and some laminate lift, but the spine has remained clean and is still strong with most of the text on the spine still readable. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. The part of the sleeve where the record is kept there are some signs of some rubbing wear to the top and bottom edges.

THE INSERT: the original DARK green card insert is present and is in excellent condition. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the period original plain white EMI sleeve with square corners, with the text ‘Patent applied for’. A very clean and crease free inner sleeve. The two top opening edges are very clean and unworn. There are NO tears, stains, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. There are some slight signs of a split to the bottom edge.

THE RECORD: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in very good+ condition. The record is made from the period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are:  XEX  637 – 1  and  XEX  638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are:  ‘ 3  8   M M M ’ and ‘ 9  M M M ’.

THE AUDIO: is very good+, it plays with some light crackle, ‘pops’ and some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. It plays with a full, loud period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent condition, side two is in excellent++ condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
