BEATLES UK – ‘Sgt Pepper’ original Mono, mis press label.
PMC 7027 – black and yellow Parlophone labels.
A UK album in original condition featuring:
A hard to find mis press copy, only printed in a very small number, as the record label on side two, the track ‘A day in the life’ has NOT been printed on the label !. It is hard to see how this could have happened at the EMI printing factory. One theory is, the track was banned by the BBC in 1967 in England, maybe it was that fact why the track was left off the label !. The reference to the track was never removed from the sleeve so that theory seems unlikely !.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, it is fully laminated. An original UK mono ‘flipback’ gatefold sleeve, the four opening edges are very clean for its age. The spine is in near excellent condition and has remained a good clean white, the spine is still very strong and all of the text on the spine is readable. There are NO splits, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. To the right side of the inner gatefold, top right there is a discrete name written in blue pen.
THE INSERT: is in excellent condition. The original DARK green card insert is present and is in excellent condition. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue. There is what appears to be a slight ‘water mark’ to the bottom left corner.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the rare period original plain white EMI ‘Patents applied for’ sleeve, with the more unusual square corners to it. This sleeve is made from the period thick, heavy grade paper. There are NO tears, stains, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. The is some splitting to one of the side edges.
THE VINYL: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent+ condition. It has remained very dark and glossy. The vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl.
The matrix nos. are: XEX 637 – 1 and XEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 3 8 M M H ’ and ‘ 0 (looks like an 0 with a tail on top !) and ‘M M M ’.
THE AUDIO: plays near excellent, side one plays with some light ‘dusty’ crackle from the grooves, and I did hear some light ‘ticks’ for the first minute of play to track three. Side two also plays near excellent, there is some crackle to the introduction to track one but it soon clears to give a light ‘dusty’ crackle from the grooves. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. There are NO letters embossed around the spindle holes. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
