Description
BEATLES UK - Sgt Pepper, unusual transition labels, early stereo LP, with a rare, wider font record label.
PCS 7027 – early 1967 black and yellow Parlophone labels.
An early UK Stereo LP, featuring:
1. very unusual transition labels, side one is different to side two,
2. the label on side one features a rare variant, as ‘some’ of the printed text has been printed in a ‘wider and bolder’ text !, this text is quite different in appearance to the regular ‘Sans Serif’ font used on regular UK stereo labels. Only a very few of these labels with this ‘wider and bolder’ font were printed, suggesting that they could have been a printing error !. EMI could have soon spotted this ‘error’ on these labels, so very few copies made it out into the shops.
3. side two also features an unusual label variant, but different to label one, as the label does not have the usual text of, ‘Sold in UK’ etc ! printed on it,
4. unusually there are NO letters embossed around the spindle hole on the labels.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in overall excellent+ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The laminate has remained very glossy and relatively free from any ‘scuffs’ or ‘indentations’. The four opening edges have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in near very good condition and has remained strong, clean and white in colour. There is some laminate loss to the spine and some rubbing, here and there, so most of the text on the spine is not readable. The two original exposed top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INSERT: the original dark green insert is present and is in excellent condition. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. To the rear there are some very slight signs of ageing.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original period red and white EMI advertising sleeve. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.THE RECORD: is in near very good condition. The record is made of the original quality, 1960s period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. It has remained dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 637 - 1 and YEX 638 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 2 G P D ’ and ‘ 4 G F A ’.
THE AUDIO: is very good+, it plays with some light crackle and some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. It plays with a loud, full period stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: are in near excellent condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
