BEATLES UK - WITH THE BEATLES 1st PRESS Mono Jobete.

1963 PMC 1206 -  YELLOW AND BLACK PARLOPHONE LABEL.

A UK press album in 100% original condition, this is the very first  Mono press of this LP, featuring  some interesting misprints / errors:

a. the first being on the sleeve, the track  ‘You really GOTTA hold on me’,  should have been spelt ‘GOT a hold’ !,

b. on the record label, again the ‘GOTTA’ spelling is there,

c. the   front photo sleeve features  a very dark  and grainy photo  that makes the group  look as if they are wearing make-up !, this sleeve photo is now considered to be  a misprint,  as on  later sleeves a much lighter photo was used,

d.  on the record label on side Two it states   ‘Jobete’ for the publishing company for the song  ‘Money’,   this was an error and was soon corrected !

e. also on the record label on side Two, the label has a curious ‘speckled’   appearance !,  (see photo)  to me it   looks a bit like looking out into the   ‘Cosmos’ !,   ie stars against the darkness of space !, ..anyway this label  is completely different in appearance  to the label on side One of the record.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  is in near very good condition,  housed in the correct early front laminated sleeve, with a large black ‘solid’  Mono on the front.  It features a tri flipback design to the rear.  The spine and the flipbacks are very good and all very strong.  The text on the spine is clear to read. There is  NO  Pen writing  or tears,  a very original sleeve.  The sleeve features the incorrect spelling of ‘GOTTA’, for the track, ‘You really GOT a hold on me’ !.  There is some age related discolouring  to the rear.  

INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ polylined  sleeve,   it is very clean and white,  with No pen writing, stains, tears  and NO edge rubbing wear.

VINYL:   is in very  good  condition,   the vinyl  is  made  of the period sixties thick, heavy vinyl.   The matrix nos. are:  XEX 447 1N and XEX 448 1N, the Mother/Stampers are:    ‘ 1    G M D’  and on side Two   ‘ 4    R H ’.

AUDIO:  The audio is very good,  it plays  all the way through without  sticking,  and it lays flat on the turntable.     For some reason  on side Two,   track One   ‘Roll over Beethoven’  into about One minute of  play there  is a  skip, at least it does on my ‘Dual’   turntable. 

THE LABELS:  are  in  very good+ condition,  there  is a  ‘K T’ code  embossed on to side One.  The label on side Two lists the music Publisher for the track ‘Money’ as credited to ‘Jobete’  this was a misprint and was soon corrected.  Another misprint on side Two is the track  ‘You really got a hold on me’  is misprinted as ‘GOTTA hold on me’, again this was soon corrected.    As mentioned the  label  on side Two has a  strange   ‘speckled’  appearance,  see photo !.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
