BEATLES UK, With the Beatles, original 1963 dark image sleeve, 1/1 matrix, 1st UK issue mono.

1963 PMC 1206, original 1963, yellow and black Parlophone labels.

A first UK issue mono album in original condition, featuring:

1. the earliest known UK sleeves for this album featured a ‘dark and grainy’ image photo. This copy features the ‘darkest’ known sleeve photo variant. See the comparison photo, the image on the right is the ‘dark and grainy’ sleeve, the image on the left is a ‘regular’ image. Efforts were soon made to make the sleeve image much ‘lighter’ and less ‘grainy’,

2. original UK first issue record matrix of: 1/1,

3. the rear of the sleeve features the mis press ‘gotta’ spelling, this was soon to be changed to read ‘got a’, for the track, ‘You really got a hold on me’. On the record label, on side two this track title has been spelt correctly, as, ‘got a’.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition. The first UK issue ‘tri flip back’ sleeve has an excellent glossy front laminate. The spine is in very good++ condition and has remained clean and white in colour and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The un laminated rear of the sleeve has remained clean and white for its age. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original EMI, period ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean, white and unworn. An excellent, clean white fresh sleeve that has been well preserved. There are NO tears, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: is in excellent condition. The record is made of the period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy and doesn't look as if it has been played very much.

The matrix are: XEX 447 – 1N and XEX 448 – 1N, first issue UK mono matrix,

The mother/stampers are: ‘3 L G’ and ‘9 L G’.

THE AUDIO: is excellent+, it plays with relatively quiet grooves. The record plays with a full loud, powerful period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in near excellent condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
