Description

BEATLES UK – original ‘With the Beatles’ Stereo LP, RARE E J Day sleeve.

1963 PCS 3045 – original Black and Yellow Parlophone Labels.

A UK Stereo copy in 100% original condition with a very hard to find Stereo sleeve made by ‘E J Day’.

In the UK Stereo records didnt really become the norm until 1969, so UK first press Stereo Beatle albums are hard to find.  By late 1963 most Beatle album sleeves were being printed by the company ‘Garrad and Lofthouse’. The printing company of ‘E J Day’ were still printing a small number of Beatle album sleeves to help with the demand.   So while it is not that uncommon to find a Mono ‘With the Beatles’  ‘E J Day’ sleeve,  it is extremely hard to find a Stereo ‘With the Beatles’  ‘E J Day’ sleeve.

This copy features:

three misprints on the record label on side two:

1. on track three the song title has the spelling of ‘Gotta’ but on the rear of the sleeve it  is spelt  ‘Got a’  !,

2. also on this track, part of publishing credit has been  mispelt as  ‘Domion’ !, this was soon to be corrected.

3. on track seven, the publishing credit has the misprint of  ‘Jobete’,  this was soon corrected.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated.  The rear features the original tri-flipback design, unusually for an  ‘E  J Day’  sleeve all the flipbacks  are all complete and in very good condition.  The spine is in very good condition and all the text is readable. The rear of the sleeve has the track, side two, track three printed as ‘Got a’ hold on me, but on the record label this track title is printed as ‘Gotta’ hold on me !.  As mentioned this is a very hard to find Stereo sleeve made by ‘E J Day’, as nearly all ‘With the Beatles’ Stereo sleeves were made by the printers ‘Garrad and Lofthouse’. The unlaminated rear of the sleeve has remained clean for its age. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. A very clean and complete, original example of such a RARE  sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE:  is in very good condition and is the original ‘use Emitex’ sleeve.  There are NO splits, tears, stains, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL:  side one is in  very good++ condition, side two is in very good condition.  It is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl.  It has remained very dark and very glossy.

The matrix are:   YEX  110 - 2  and   YEX 111 – 2,

The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘  4     A  T ’    and    ‘  2    R  H  ’,

THE AUDIO:  side one is excellent, side two plays  very good. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.

THE LABELS:  are in very good++ condition and as mentioned, there are three errors on the label on side two, see above details.  The letters ‘ K T ’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one.  The labels are free from any pen writing, sticker residue or stickers.
