WARNING:

PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOUR FEEDBACK SCORE IS 0 OR 1. I AM SORRY, BUT YOU MAY BLAME THE SCAMMERS.

20+ year record collector with some cool new stuff coming soon on eBay! Please check my other auctions or sale listings!

You are bidding on one of the rarest albums out there. It is 2 LP set by The Beatles called "The Beatles" (AKA "The White Album") on Apple Records.

THIS IS THE EXTREMELY RARE COMPRESSED VERSION!!!

ONLY 3 OR 4 COPIES KNOWN TO EXIST!!!

Poster and four photos are included (descriptions below for both). At least one of the two inner sleeves is original and both are in VG condition.

Inner gatefold slick has "SWBO 101" on its bottom-left corner.

(Full cover, records, poster and photo descriptions below historical information)

Not many White Albums were pressed with this compressed mastering version!

What happened was, this first version was mastered using a certain Limiter, which ended up compressing the sound. As a result, the lows and highs (bass and treble) were increased. George Harrison heard a copy of this master, thought it sounded terrible and insisted that all 33 lacquers be destroyed immediately. However, a few had already been shipped out and sold! THIS IS ONE OF THEM!

THE MATRIX (OR DEAD WAX) NUMBERS TO LOOK FOR READ A PREFIX OF "A" OR "B" WITH ANY NUMBERS FROM "1" THROUGH "33" RIGHT NEXT TO IT (ex. "A26").

THE MATRIX (OR DEAD WAX) NUMBERS FOR THIS COPY ARE ETCHED "SWBO 1-101-A28" FOR SIDE 1; "SWBO-2-101-B28 #2" FOR SIDE 2; "SWBO-3-101-A28" FOR SIDE 3 AND "SWBO-4-101-B29" FOR SIDE 4 (PLEASE SEE LAST PHOTO). ALL FOUR ALSO HAVE THE "IAM" TRIANGLE LOGO.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE MIXES ON THIS ALBUM ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE "CORRECTED" REMASTERED HARRISON VERSION WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE. IT IS THE MASTERING THAT IS DIFFERENT, THEREFORE THE DIFFERENCES ARE SUBTLE. APPARENTLY TWO OF THE BEST SONGS TO TEST THE DIFFERENCES ARE "HELTER SKELTER" AND "LONG LONG LONG" DUE TO THEIR RAPID RISE AND FALL IN VOLUME.

LABEL ERRORS:

SIDE 1'S LABEL READS “OBLADI OBLADA” INSTEAD OF “OB-LA-DI, OB-LA-DA” AND "BUNGALOW BILL", INSTEAD OF "THE CONTINUING STORY OF BUNGALOW BILL". SIDE 4'S LABEL READS "REVOLUTION NO. 1" AND "REVOLUTION NO. 9", INSTEAD OF "REVOLUTION 1" AND "REVOLUTION 9", AND “GOODNIGHT” AS ONE WORD INSTEAD OF “GOOD NIGHT”. SIDE 2’S “ROCKY RACCOON” WAS ALWAYS MISPELLED “…RACOON” UNTIL THE 80’S, SO I DON’T REALLY COUNT THAT ONE, BUT I AM MENTIONING IT NONETHELESS.

Number on front cover is "A1582355"

(NOTE: For early pressings there is no significance between the number on the cover and the records in it. I was told by two known experts that the covers and records were not pressed at the same time. When the White Album first came out, they pressed 3,000,000 covers in different variations (ie the "A", "No." and dot prefixes before the number) which were shipped to different plants around the country. They were pressed before

the records in preparation for release. When the boxes got stacked at the plants, they did not go by Box 1, Box 2, Box 3, etc. Due to deadline and demand, they would just randomly grab a box of covers and use what they had at random. If they were grabbing from the top of the box pile, chances are the cover numbers were higher since the lower numbered LP boxes were probably stacked on the bottom. That is why you can still find higher numbered covers with the 6 errors records in them. So, with early pressings, the number on the front covers are mostly irrelevant regarding when the records were pressed. I PERSONALLY have a White Album with a FRONT COVER number in the 7,000's and I believe it has the corrected spellings of the 6 songs. And it was from the original owner too!)

I HAVE HAD VERIFICATION IN-PERSON BY ONE OF THE LEADING EXPERTS IN BEATLES COLLECTING. HIS NAME WILL BE REVEALED ONLY UPON E-MAIL REQUEST AND WILL NOT BE POSTED TO THIS AD.

Please note that I proudly use the latest Perry Cox Beatles price guide for grading and reference.

NOTE:

The grades I use are Mint (rarely used grade), Near Mint, VG+++ (rarely used grade), VG++VG+VGVG MinusGood+GoodFair and Poor.

COVER AND RECORDS:

The cover I would rate as Good condition. Cover has some wear. Someone wrote "LW" in blue marker on top right of front cover. Front cover's top-right has a 7 3/16" split and a 4 3/8" split from the middle-left to the spine. Front cover also has a 8 5/8" split on the bottom-right. Back cover has a 7" split and a 4 3/8" split from the middle-right to the spine. Spine is actually almost completely intact with some staining and wear. You could replace this with a better cover but I don't do that. This was the cover that the records came in. Aforementioned number on front cover is "A1582355".

I would rate both records condition as STRONG VG to VG+. That is a conservative grade. There are a couple of minor scratches and marks that do not greatly affect anything. You can see on the label photo there is a scuff mark towards the end of Side 4. It doesn't make much noise on my player. The middle of "Martha My Dear" has a deep scuff mark that does make a sound but doesn't last long or skip my needle. Overall, records play really nice on my player! There are sections with surface noise, but it is infrequent. Still shiny and glossy! Side 3 label's middle white pressing dot is showing a little. All labels are pretty clean!

THIS IS RARE IN ANY CONDITION!!!

POSTER AND PHOTOS:

Poster is probably an early second issue. The front, bottom-left corner has the "Printed In U.S.A." circle logo with "?Apple Records, Inc." next to it. Back of poster, bottom-right, the first line has "??All lyrics copyright 1968 for the world by Northern Songs Ltd. England", the second line has "?1968 Apple Music Publishing Co., Inc." and the third has "EMI Records Limited". The "Printed In U.S.A." circle logo is just below "England". Poster is in really nice shape with no holes, tears or tape marks that I can see.

Four photos appear to be first issues. They all have "Printed In U.S.A." circle logo on their front, bottom-left corners and are not on flimsy paper. They have been used a bit with some pinholes and some wear; the worst being Paul's. They still all look good to me though!
