THE BEATLES - WITH THE BEATLES
1963 MONO press with ULTRA Rare Contract Labels, original cover, inner sleeve and brilliant audio throughout!
ORIGINAL UK PRESS cover and MONO YELLOW AND BLACK PARLOPHONE LABELS. Following the 1st press Yellow and Black label variant DECCA pressed a small run of With The Beatles, including their own ring indentation near the perimeter of the label. These ring DECCA Contract pressings were discontinued are the first run and are extremely rare now, impossible to find in playable, let alone Near Mint Condition!
Here we have a very rare opportunity to own a barely played pressing of this early Beatles classic. This is a great playing record with a great cover. Original UK PRESS labels, from my own personal collection, with superb audio throughout. An extremely rare dark print cover.

This is a superb pressing of the classic Beatles album. An extremely rare UK press with great vinyl Top Audio and great cover.
The Beatles second official L.P. release. Two weeks BEFORE release, "With The Beatles" had advance orders of 270,000, and before the first week of release was out, the half-a-million figure had been beaten. They were actually awarded a Silver disc (for sales of 250,000) on November 18th 1963, 4 days BEFORE release ! By mid January 1964 885,000 had been sold in the U.K. and by the end of 1964, the total was 980,000.
The ONE MILLION mark arrived by September 1965, making this album the FIRST EVER British album to sell 1,000,000 copies in the U.K. The American version of this album, Meet The Beatles bizarrely left off five of the tracks, but sold over 5 million copies. This makes combined sales for The Beatles second album of over 6.5 million.
Chart wise, this L.P. replaced "Please Please Me" at the number one slot, and remained there for 21 weeks. This gave The Beatles a continuous run of 51 weeks at the summit !_Also, in these early days of the British charts, ALL product was listed together regardless of format, and therefore this L.P. even made it into the U.K. singles chart, reaching number 11, which was a record placing for an album.
The cover was a very artful half-shadow black-and-white shot of The Beatles taken by Robert Freeman.
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:
Yes – brilliant! - TOP sound quality throughout! This great record plays up to the visual grading and beyond, with crystal clear audio this record sounds superb!
With the Beatles is an early rock and roll classic, a complex and varied collection of music and also a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, hard to find in really clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Devil in Her Heart.' This pressing has strong undistorted audio, with super clear sound. There is certainly NO loud pops or clicks or distortion. It really sounds great and plays with amazing sound separation and clarity!
Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes. This vinyl is an absolute gem! The harmonies are incredible, and on tracks like 'Hold Me Tight', the vocal separation is just amazing. Every instrument is crystal clear, and the audio layering is just astounding. You can hear sounds in this pressing that normally go unnoticed or are obliterated by very slight (imperceptible) surface wear. On 'I Wanna Be Your Man', for example, there is a clear echo on McCartney's vocal that is normally lost. Here it is bright and clear.
Great music with great clarity and so hard to find with this type of sound. John Lennon said that the Beatles were best listened to in mono, and when you listen to this album you can really hear what he meant. The music jumps out with incredible definition, power and clarity, giving an incredibly live rockous sound and a great MONO press experience. The bass and drums are so true, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. The tonal quality make this a sensational pressing. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten. Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, and obviously NO sticks or jumps what so ever. I will give a detailed account below:
Starting with 'It Wont be Long', there are quiet run ins followed by really loud bright audio. No pops, clicks or distortion and barely any detectable surface sound. With the 1st quiet track on the album, 'All I got to Do', again the sound is superb. McCartney's vocals are crystal clear. 'All My Loving' again plays with flawless audio, and please be assured I don't use such a term lightly. There are certainly no obvious issues like pops or clicks, just superb clear audio. 'Don't Bother Me' again plays with super clear sound followed by 'Little Child' which also plays superbly. Audio wise one of the really difficult tacks on the album, 'Till There Was You', again sounds super clear, with none of the blurring or distortion that this track is so prone to. Finishing side 1, 'Mr Post Man' continues the extremely high standard, and like all the other tracks there are no pops or clicks, and not even a hint of distortion.
Side 2. begins with the rockous 'Roll Over Beethoven', and plays again with super bright audio. 'Hold me Tight' just plays perfectly, as does 'You Really Gotta A Hold on Me'. 'I wanna be your Man' powers in with super clear sound, and still not a single noticeable pop or click. The slower 'Devil in Her Heart' again plays perfectly, this really is an astounding audio performance. There is a bit of light static between the tracks and even that is very light. Then 'Not a Second Time' again plays perfectly. Rounding off side 2. is the classic 'Money', a track on this album that nearly always plays with problems, heavy distortion and buzzing on even little played pieces. This track I am delighted to say really does play perfectly, with crystal clear audio, rounding off an incredible audio performance. With every track playing superbly, this is an incredibly rare pressing. There is some light static between the tracks, and thats pretty much the only noticeable static found anywhere on the record.
A great all round example of this classic vinyl. A staggering first Mono mix, unlike the re-issues which lack the impact. A great all round example of this great vinyl.
This is a great Audio pleasure and I would easily give the audio an EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT grading.
THE RECORD - VISUAL GRADING
A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings, this vinyl has been little played. It does have some ultra light faint sleeve removal marks, but the are light and have no effect on the sound and can inly be seen under a spot light.
There are a few very faint handling marks, this vinyl has been played carefully and shows no groove wear. Unbelievable to think this vinyl is over 40 years old!
Grades at EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT condition.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:
Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
THE LABELS
Both labels are in superb condition, with barely any visible spindle traces at all (one on one side) and barely any wear around the spindle hole. Stunning examples of this rare classic First press.
Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS to NEAR MINT condition.
THE COVER
A great example and an Original Garrod and Lofthouse cover. An extremely rare dark print cover with the corrected 'You Really Got A Hold On Me' title on the back.
With the Beatles covers have to be one of the most prone to wear of all the classic Beatles vinyls from the sixties. The laminate is prone to cracking and lifting, with serious ring wear and destruction to the edges. The unlaminated back is usually heavily marked and The Spines are nearly always flattened, worn and un readable. Not this one!
Being the second Beatles album it is extremely hard to find With the Beatles covers in anything like decent condition. This is a lovely example with only light corner wear and only a couple of light creases to the laminate.
There is some light scuffing to the corners, but no rubbing along the edges. The opening edges are very square and un frayed, with none of the small splits at the opening that you nearly always get with With The Beatles. The white areas are very white, with no blemishes. The back cover is nice and clean, with no discernible ring wear, which is very unusual for these delicate covers, just a couple of tiny age spots as clearly shown in the images.
The Spine shows minimal wear only, the spine text is totally intact, and is one of the squarer examples I have seen. The front is unusual, being one of the darkest prints, with little separation between the background and the Beatles polo neck jumpers. All round, this is a really great cover!!!
Strictly grades at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS condition.
THE INNER
Comes with the Original First Press Inner Sleeve with Polythene Lining. States: "USE EMITEX..." & "IMPORTANT - TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR MICRO-GROOVE RECORDS ..."
A superb example in EXCELLENT PLUS condition, some minor discolouration, NO tears to the sides or the die cut openings, and NO wear at the tops. Crisp and Clean. Ut would be hard to find a cleaner original Emitex inner sleeve.
The record will come in a replacement inner to protect the original.
RARITY
A DECCA CONTRACT pressing in this condition is an extreme rarity. Any early UK PRESS of With the Beatles in this type of condition is scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any UK Yellow and Black examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays really well is very rare.
UK Yellow and Black original pressings of With the Beatles are getting rarer by the day. Finding one in great all round condition with absolutely fantastic audio on every track and the original cover is extremely rare, and makes this a very rare opportunity.
This is an Original Uk Press with Original Inner Sleeve and great original HEAVY PRESSED Vinyl with Original Yellow and Black Parlophone Labels. Finding an original pressing in this condition is VERY RARE Indeed. A wonderful and extremely rare pressing of this classic early Beatles album, with AMAZING CRYSTAL CLEAR TOP AUDIO!
A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE AND VALUABLE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY.

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:
All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.
+
VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:
Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
