Description

BEATLES - YESTERDAY AND TODAY - SECOND STATE BUTCHER COVER (PASTE OVER) - CAPITOL T-2553 - MONO - NM- (near mint minus) COVER!!!

THE HOLY GRAIL OF BEATLES ALBUMS!!!  A beautiful cover, with sharp corners, with no splits in the seems, no tears on the cover, and is just dying to be peeled (but I wouldn't recommend trying, unless you know what yer doing). This is a legit second state butcher cover, as you can see in picture #6 of Ringo's V neck through the paste-over.  (In case you're new to this, a second state butcher cover is the original recalled "butcher" cover of the Beatles "Yesterday And Today" album with the band covered in raw meat and chopped up baby dolls.  The records were recalled and a new cover was pasted over the original jackets.  A first state would be the original without the paste-over.  Second state is the one you're looking at.  Third state is the paste-over removed or peeled off to reveal the original cover). You can also see Ringo's face, his uneasy grin, and his mop-top (look at the pic closely!!).  Other stuff you can see through the paste-over (not pictured) is John's legs on the left side, Ringo's knee on the bottom right, the top of John's head (but just barely).  This auction is for the COVER ONLY, as the record is scratched and scuffed.  I WILL be including the record, but DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE SEEKING A CLEAN RECORD.  The record isn't what's collectible, anyway...as you probably already understand.  This auction also comes with the original "Capitol 66; Sounds Great!" inner sleeve.  Other nerdy things to look at:

Bottom right corner on back has "3" next to RIAA logo (see pic).

Matrix #'s on record...  side one: T1-2553-F1 #3 ... side two: T2-2553-G2 #3

It's not easy to find a cover in this great condition, so bid away and have fun doing it!!

Cover grading: NM- ... Sharp corners on front.  The paste-over has not been tampered with, and has a small bubble on left near bottom (you peelers can use this as a starting point perhaps?).  Color is white with a little bit of a yellow tint, but hardly noticeable unless you're me and you are very anal retentive.  There's one or two small indentations on the front, that I didn't notice until I started really grading this thing.  The original owners name is written in blue ink at the top right, which is the only obvious flaw on the whole cover.  The back cover is nice with the top right corner a little dinged.  No tears, no unpleasantness, a small record ring is visible, but not ugly.  The spine is readable and untorn, no cats had their way on this one.  There's not a single split on any of the seems, not in the slightest form, and no tape or junk holding it together.  BEAUTIFUL!!!

Record grading: GD- ... The record plays all the way through until the final song on side b: Day Tripper, where it has a quick skip.  All other tracks play fine with typical pops.  The first two songs on each side of the record are the worst when it comes to pops.  Overall, the record isn't as bad as it looks, even though no one bidding on this auction is going to care about the record anyway.  The labels are in decent shape, not torn, and the original owner wrote her name on it again...on side 1.  She was really serious with her stuff, ay?

Inner sleeve grading: NM- ... The inner sleeve is beautiful with only a few creases at the top where you remove the disc.  It's still in good enough shape so that I was able to take a picture of it standing up and leaning against my wall without it falling over.

STUDY THE PICS!!  This is the REAL DEAL!!  YOU MAY NEVER FIND ANOTHER SECOND STATE BUTCHER COVER THIS NICE EVER AGAIN!!  Happy bidding!!

PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE BIDDING...

Hello and thanks for checking out our auction. We, Jayson Kohl and Josh Johnson just opened a new record store in Portsmouth NH: Odyssey And Oracle.

We will be auctioning off around 1 to 3 music related items per week, after our devoted customers pass up their chance to purchase some of our most treasured collectibles. We are passionate about our records, music and stuff and hope to give you the best ebay experience possible. We are new to selling on ebay but are eager to please and willing to learn as we go. We are, however, not new to customer service and record collecting. We aim to describe every detail of our items for auction, and will grade them as accurately as possible, so you as the buyer have no unpleasant surprises when your item arrives. If there is ever a problem with your item, please email us at Eggmanrulzzz@aol.com or call us at 1-603-319-1656...ask for Jayson.

Since we will be so accurate with our grading, we will refund your purchase if there are any discrepancies from our grading. We just ask that you send the product back to us prior to your refund. We will not refund anything that is within our grading, however. Please read carefully before bidding.

We cannot guarantee that a CD case will arrive perfectly.  They break or crack in the mail easily.  They cost about .30 cents and can easily be replaced.

PAYMENT IS EXPECTED WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.  Please, if you're going to bid, be prepared to pay as soon as possible.

As of 9/22/09 sellers are not allowed to offer insurance as an option for the buyer.  So we will only be insuring things that are $100.00 or more.  The price of insurance will be figured into the shipping cost of ANYTHING WE FEEL WILL SELL FOR OVER $100.00.  Insurance is not available on media mail packages. For international buyers, the same rules apply, but I can only send insured packages overseas as USPS Priority Mail International.  ALL INTERNATIONAL BUYERS MUST WAIT TO PAY UNTIL THEY RECEIVE AN INVOICE FROM US. THE SHIPPING COSTS LISTED ARE A GUESS AND ARE MOST LIKELY TOO HIGH.  WE CAN SAVE YOU MONEY ON SHIPPING IF YOU WAIT TO PAY WITH OUR INVOICE.  I’m sorry, but this is the best I can do to protect myself and my customers from fraud and postal errors…for it seems we sellers have just been kicked in the behind.

WE ACCEPT PAYPAL ONLY, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
