Description
The Beatles - Yesterday and Today Partially Peeled Butcher Cover LP
Surely you know the story of this one- Capitol needed to issue some UK only singles to America, riding "Yesterday", so this is that compilation. A "pop-art" photograph by Robert Whitaker was chosen for the cover, the fabs covered in meat and doll parts, much to the dismay of retailers and the record-buying public. An alternate cover was quickly printed, but in the meantime, all of the first pressings were simply pasted-over resulting in the 'banned' design lurking underneath. This is indeed one of those copies with the paste over partially removed. Here's your chance to get this awesomely collectible record for much, MUCH less than one in perfect shape.
The Good: - It's one of the most coveted rare records and the most sought after Beatles LP, period - 100% legit 1966 first pressing unlike many for sale - LITERALLY THOUSANDS of dollars less than a pristine example - Partially peeled - you can see both the original, 'banned' cover and its replacement
The Bad: - Partially peeled - obviously not a 'pro' job - no Butcher Cover Steaming technology used here - Cover is completely split at spine and is generally in poor shape
Vinyl itself is a VG+ and sounds great.
