Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Original 1970 first pressing of a hardrock effort that was enhanced by a progressive blues experiemental phase ... the only album as such by the legendary Ted Nugent!
By 1970 it was clear that Ted was becoming the alpha male in this band and the style was turning from the experimental 60's rock to a harder rock formula. However, "Marriage on the Rocks/Rock Bottom" isn't nearly as hard rockin' as follow-up's like "Survival of the Fittest" or "Tooth Fang & Claw". The first song is composed by Nugent, Marriage/Part 1: Man/Part 2: Woman/Part 3: Music. This sounds more like Jethro Tull than anything you would expect from Ted. The song is an over nine minute long epic number that combines equal parts progressive rock and blues. The remainder of the material up to the bizzarly titled "The Inexhaustible Quest For The Cosmic Cabbage" was also written by Ted and certainly fits into the whole 1960's vibe. After three albums, the Amboy Dukes had run their creative course Nugent felt free to cut lose and explore some offbeat musical paths. It is far from the group's hardrock direction, but the fact it is so weird makes worthy Where else would you hear Nugent daring to put out a Jethro Tull flavored slice of English folk-rock (the three part instrumental title track suite)?There was no denying that the extended 'Marriage' has a distinctive UK progressive feel to it. The focus is clearly on Nugent's versatile acoustic and electric guitar (he's seldom turned in such a pretty performance), which effortlessly wound its way through the song's three extended segments - 'Man', 'Woman', and 'Marriage'. Surprisingly deft and occasionally almost classical in feel, the fact it was a Nugent original made it even stranger to hear. Totally atypical Nugent and one of the album standouts. 'Breast-Fed Gator' found Nugent and company returning to a more typical rock sound and lyric. With one of the album's stronger melodies it would have made a decent FM single. The keyboard propelled rocker 'Get Yer Guns' was actually an even better number with Nugent kicking in a stellar fuzz solo two thirds to the way in. The song then abruptly switched into an acoustic Flamenco segment, followed by a strange synthesizer blurb, before returning to the main melody. Weird, but kind of cool and lyrically an nice precursor to some of Nugent's solo career themes. Showcasing more of Nugent personal philosophies and some of his lightening quick playing, 'Non-Conformist Wilderbeast Man' is brief. 'Today's Lesson (Ladies and Gentlemen)' ended side one with what started out as a slice of conventional hard rock, followed by a strange psych-ish mid-section, a complete guitar freak out segment, and a brief return to the original melody. The most conventional track on the album, the first half of 'Children Of The Woods' was also the standout performance. Interestingly, the initial emphasis wasn't Nugent's guitar, rather Andy Soloman's keyboards. Check out the ''free the little children' chorus which gets more and more intense as the song shifted gears and Nugent's guitar takes over turning into a slice of guitar showmanship and prototype Focus yelping. 'Brain Games Of Yesteryear' is an okay rocker, but didn't have a great deal of memorable stuff going for it.
Penned by Soloman, the 10 minute 'he Inexhaustible Quest For The Cosmic Cabbage' is a plain strange aural collage that managed to incorporate everything from a snippet of Beach Boys-styled harmonies to Zappa-styled humor, and avant garde moves.
