Description

10 records. Wilhelm Backhaus complete piano sonatas of Beethoven in the latest Decca editions which he made from 1952-onwards. All stereo except for Hammerklavier op 106 which was a 1952 recording and is reproduced here electronically to play back with a stereo cartridge. Wilhelm Backhaus did not rerecord this for stereo although he played it in Berlin 1959 and Salzburg 1960. Made in England by Decca and issued as box set 1971 lavishly presented for the time but after Backhaus' death in 1969. Booklet is extensive and informative and in good condition. Box has been taped to repair one corner and spine. Records are in very good condition. Overall A++++
