Description
For auction is BENNY GOLSON's "Groovin' With Golson," NJLP 8220, MONO, DG, RVG, 1959. With Art Blakey, Ray Bryant, Curtis Fuller, Paul Chambers.
SOUND: VG
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. There is good news and bad news: the bad news is, there is a scratch on B1, "The Stroller." It causes a systematic tick for the first 90 seconds of the cut (but no skips.) The good news is, even the scratched area isn't terrible, and once you get past that, the rest of the playback (both sides) is very nice! Reasonably clear, good-quality sound. Some minor surface noise, a few minor tics, but nothing you wouldn't accept on a VG+ record. Due to the scratch issue, I graded the overall playback VG, but 95% of the record would be solid VG+ and a fine listen!
VINYL: VG
Visually, the vinyl is consistent with the playback. There is the scratch on B1 (see close-up pic.) Beyond that, each side shows several hairline marks that appear superficial. Nothing I can "feel." The record is on purple, deep-grooved New Jazz "microgroove" labels. The dead wax is stamped "RVG," and matrices are etched: NJLP 8220A // NJLP 8220B. According to Discogs, this is there 1st press
JACKET: VG or better
The jacket is pretty nice. The top edge is split the last inch to the top right corner. The spine is split the last inch to the bottom left corner. The corners are each a little frayed. The front cover is in excellent condition, clean and unmarked. The back cover has "property of" in pen across the top, as well as a "promo" stamp. Otherwise, it's clean and in good condition.

Aside from one scratched area, the record plays very nicely! They aren't making any more of these! No reserve, bidding starts at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
