L'EDERA OST / ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp music written by ROMOLO GRANO arrangements and orchestral direction by BERTO PISANO vocals by EDDA DELL'ORSO. Original Italian pressing on the PEGASO label (PG 11), from 1974. Super-obscure, Italian soundtrack grail and (for us, anyway) the Pegaso Library you never see. A gently stoned mix of Classical antiquity / Atlantean inspired lounge with a psychedelic fantasy feel / the bewitching fragile vocals of Edda and more sinister experimental themes a la Sermi period Egisto Macchi. There is a ghostly undercurrent of sadness / death and decay throughout both sides. Strange and exquisite mood music for the long forgotten RAI TV mini series, L'Edera directed by Giuseppe Fina. Our soundclip includes the obsessive avantgarde lounge of DRAMMA SUL LATIFONDO / the underwater orchestrations of SUONI ANTICHI / the mesmerising harp and harpsichord of LE 4 ISOLE and alternative versions of the dream-like TEMA DELL'EDERA theme. A mini masterpiece directed by our favourite Italian composer (Berto Pisano) and little known, so a must for the Italian soundtrack connoisseur. Lots of melancholic strings / LSD tinged Mediterranean folk elements with woodwind / flute / guitar / moog synthesizer / piano with echo etc played in a trippy mid '70s setting. Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG+ condition with some hairlines / mini scuffs and old pressing residue marks. All themes play with varying degrees of light surface noise. Some soft pops and ticks (as you can hear on the soundclip). Labels have a thin, small scratched out / rubbed out section to middle right side between 'Television' and 'sceneggiatoTV' wording. The soft card sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with a section of wear to middle of top seam. Natural age discoloration / some dirt marks and mini stains from storage. Light corner and edge wear. Some ring creasing / ring dirt marks. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Library OST Lp!!!
