Description
Here is a true Ultra Rare gem for collectors, Ptolemaic Terrascope subscribers, and lovers of the great British modern psych masters the Bevis Frond and its ultra prolific songwriting brainiac, Nick Saloman. This is the highly sought after, super-scarce ORIGINAL 1987 vinyl-only release of the Frond 2-LP set entitled, "The Bevis Frond: Bevis Through The Looking Glass," and subtitled "The Great Magnet Disaster." This copy, released in tiny quantities on Saloman's own Woronzaw label (dead-wax matrix no.'s WOO 51/2 A/B/C/D), is hand-numbered (presumably by Nick himself) and is copy no. 410 out of the run of only 500 copies issued worldwide. The material on this release was later issued on CD by the great Reckless Records label that reissued many of Nick's incredible output. But this is where it all started -- a ridiculously rare piece and one of the Holy Grails of Bevis Frond folklore. All but two of the tracks come directly from rough mix cassettes, and sessions for 'Miasma.' The cover states that "masters of all the rest destroyed by demagnetisationismology." Hence, the great "magnet disaster," we presume! Both LPs are in strong VG+/VG++ shape, with no discernible scatches, marks etc., and all four plain white labels are clean and unmarked. The cover itself is in strong VG+/VG++ shape with no seam splits, writing, marks of any kind. A couple of creased bumps at the lower right-hand corner but nothing serious. Plain white cover has some naturally occurring brown age spots (don't we all!). Unfortunately, we have to thin the proverbial herd and part with this beauty, but we hope this rarity (we have never come across another in 25 years of collecting) goes to a loving home! NO RESERVE and FREE SHIPPING inside the U.S.! Also for fans of Terrastock, Damon & Naomi, Olivia Tremor Control, Elephant 6 Six, Ghost, Bardo Pond, early Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett, Neutral Milk Hotel, Abunai!, Windy & Carl, 13th Floor Elevators, Electric Prunes, Love, Albert Lee, Hawkwind, Roky Erickson, Jimi Hendrix, Simply Saucer, Chocolate Watchband, Robyn Hitchcock, Soft Boys, lo-fi goodness, feedback-drenched madness, and everything and everyone else who blew our mind -- and yours! As always, thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
