This is a reissue of the "3rd state" STEREO pressing. Upon the album's original release in June 1966, the white trunk cover was carefully peeled by the previous owner, revealing the original- and highly controversial - "butcher photo" underneath.
This fabulous 1993 reissue was released in Japan to coincide with the debut of The Beatles Anthology.
The "butcher photo" is beautifully reproduced with sharp, bold colors. The back cover and spine are also meticulously reproduced. The original "Full Dimensional Stereo" advertising blurb is present across the top of the rear jacket.
An exact reissue of the original "FULL DIMENSIONAL STEREO" inner sleeve is also included along with a copy of the 1966 recall letter from Capitol records, explaining the substitute "trunk" cover.
In addition to the iconic cover, THE ACCOMPANYING VINYL is in NM (near mint) CONDITION. The Capitol rainbow labels are carefully reproduced along with a gorgeous stereo mix of the album itself....VINYL HAS BEEN PLAY-TESTED to ensure a quality listening experience!!!
