1987 college radio station (KUSF FM, RIP) promo test pressing! It’s got the original radio station track listing and other notes written on the blank cover and LP label. A unique find!! (I do not know how many testpressings of this were pressed. But for big LP releases, a test pressing could be a few dozen – for small, indie acts like this it was generally relegated to less than 10)
The only other Big Black SAF test pressing I could locate online lastsold for $400 in 2019 (no idea as to its condition)! THIS pressing was definitely played a fair bit on KUSF back in the day but is in surprisingly good shape. IN the 80’s and 90’s KUSF was arguably one of the most influential university radio stations in the USA and helped break scores of acts. This pressing a bit of surface noise (like that really matters for the noisy beast!)that does not interfere w the music. The sound quality and response of the vinyl is also SUPERB. The bass is heavy AF, the guitar just blazes and the drummachine just pummels. No audible scratches, no skipping or warping when played(I did a test play before putting up for sale – first time played in at least20 years and WOW). Great find for you BB/Albini/Shellac fanatics!
