”BIG” JOHN PATTON “The Way I Feel” RVG, P, DG, Blue Note BST 84174 Stereo Vinyl
This is 1964, first edition, “VAN GELDER” stamped, “P” pressing of "BIG” JOHN PATTON’s “The Way I Feel” on the RARE Deep Groove “New York USA” labels of Blue Note BST 84174. Musicians “Big" John Patton – organ, Richard Williams – trumpet, Fred Jackson - tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, Grant Green – guitar, Ben Dixon - drums.
VINYL plays with consistent low-level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong. No distortion. No skips. Good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, a couple feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The RARE (to this pressing) Deep Groove “New York USA” labels are clean, spindle wear. See photos.
COVER is in good shape. Corners worn. Top seam taped end to end. Spine and lower seam shows wear, cracking, small splits. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows fading, some small stains. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
