Down Beat records was a west coast label that would release some pretty cool sides in the late 40’s and along the way would discover talent like Ray Charles and Lowell Fulson. They also, in time, would have to change their name to Swing Time but retained this same logo on the label.
This record is by the rather obscure R&B bandleader Big Speed McDaniels. He cut this one in 1948 and it pairs up two nice numbers : “The Jumping Boogie Blues” and “Just Blues.”
