Here, The Franklin Mint, together with the Institute of Jazz Studies, presents a collection of “Big-Band Jazz” on 4LPs pressed on red, virgin vinyl.
This was only made possible courtesy of record labels the likes of Rca, CBS, Decca, Capitol, Savoy, EMI, MCA, and A&M.
The end result is a fabulous compendium of jazz music from the early '20s on through 1980, with selections from McKinney’s Cotton Pickers, Fletcher Henderson, Cab Calloway, Charlie Barnet, Erskine Hawkins, Louis Armstrong, Artie Shaw, Billy Eckstine, Gene Krupa, Harry James, Buddy Rich, Gerry Mulligan, Quincy Jones, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Gil Evans, among many others.
Fabulous notes accompany each player and selection, providing a jazz education without match.
A pristine set, through and through. Box is without fault and very smart. Records within, heavy red platters, each should play near mint. (Three of the four platters here look unplayed.) Booklet is fine and an incredible read.
Simply one of the finest jazz collections of its kind ever put together by anyone.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $3, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail.
