This is a classic jazz album from pianist Bill Evans and crew - The Bill Evans Trio. The album title is "Portrait in Jazz". This is the original on the RIVERSIDE label, very nice sounding record overall. Please read more details concerning the record's condition below:


Vinyl: VG+
Vinyl has very light scuffs and some light marks, plays well with nice dynamic sound and some light background noise. I've taken a clip out of the first couple minutes of the record to illustrate typical playback. The labels look great and the pictures show the record well. No skips, continuous playback... not perfect but definitely a nice original. The record has been carefully cleaned on a VPI machine and handled with care.

The actual, unedited sound file below is provided by my Yamaha P-520 Direct Drive TT with Digitrac 280E cartridge @ 1.5 grams /// I can't guarantee the record will sound exactly like the file below since all turntables are equipped differently.

Label: VG++
The labels look as pictured.


Sleeve: ---
The inner sleeve is plain and has foxing from age.


Cover: VG+ (maybe slightly less)
The cover has edge wear as the pictures show. There are no loose splits but definitely some edge wear, edge crack in the print limited to a few small instances. Spine still displays the title rather clearly but there is wear especially near the bottom at the record number print. Front cover looks as pictures, still retains a nice image. Back cover has some light foxing (yellowing) overall but is in rather nice condition, all the print is completely legible as the pictures show.

SS = Still Sealed
any defects will be listed and/or photographed to complete the description

NM- = Near Mint Minus
just short of absolutely perfect
acceptable defects would include a hairline mark not detectable to the touch and not affecting playback, background noise is nearly silent

VG++ = Very Good Plus Plus
most records I will list fall under this grade, just short of NM- but may have a mark or contact wear to the label to grade it slightly lower, maybe a drill hole or cut, maybe a mark or name written on the label lightly, sound is still great, loud and near perfect, cover may have slight edge or corner wear, maybe slight ring wear

VG+ = Very Good Plus
a great record, sound is high quality though may have a few pops or clicks, overall very nice looking vinyl possibly with light marks & scuffs, labels may have a name or mark on them, possible light contact wear to the label, covers may have a small split but not large or gaping, edge wear on cover may show more than slight, may be a mark on cover

VG = Very Good
only records I will list with this grade would be rather rare or of higher book value, meant to sell as a filler until a better record comes along, vinyl may have feelable marks but should play through without skipping, pops or clicks may be louder than usual, may have marks or wear on the label, cover may have open splits, wear on print, may have marks or other very apparent defects (all will be stated in description either by type or in the pictures)
Eight months after his successful collaboration with Miles Davis on the album Kind of Blue, Evans recorded Portrait in Jazz with a new group (the Bill Evans Trio) that helped change the direction of modern jazz. Most noticeably, LaFaro's bass is promoted from a mere accompanying instrument to one of almost equal status to the piano (though not to the extent that it would be on later albums such as Sunday at the Village Vanguard). It is one of Evans' more up-tempo and swinging albums (the presence of several ballads notwithstanding).
