Looking at the track listing – a bunch of very old songs, some famous some obscure - one might assume this was another example of a Fifties act getting off topic and recording a pointless thematic album when they should have been consolidating on an excellent predecessor of mainly original material Rock and Roll Stage Show. However the sound quality is amazing and this rocks relentlessly from start to finish. Kinetic slap bass has probably never been better recorded and the Lead Guitar often sounds right there in the room. Saxes and drums are also well recorded and they find a hole in the dense, loud mix to drop Haley’s unassuming vocals, unproped up by any effects – reverb, double tracking etc – where it can be heard (just about) holding the tunes. 10/10 for consistency. Hi energy uptempo jive drive all the way, excellent musicianship, great engineering. An unassuming gem.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE VINYL IS ABSOLUTELY, PERFECTLY MINT,  as if never played before. The original luster is totally intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles like brand new. The labels look perfect, simply gorgeous, with absolutely no trace of wear around the spindle hole. The record is TOTAL PERFECTION - ABSOLUTE VISUAL NIRVANA! We are confident that, in this condition, the record we present here is truly once-in-a-lifetime find.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(d)          This is the original flat-edge pressing

(e)           The record is STILL in its original inner, printed with other Decca titles plastic baggy, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(f)            Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its FAKE ("electronically rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 10:1.

(g)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1 (front side) and 2 (back side)

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging (nothing significant)

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine   (nothing significant)

-        Cover has one corner slightly dinged (nothing significant)
