Description
BILLIE HOLIDAY
Solitude
LP
Original UK issue on the sought-after white Clef label. This session was recorded in 1952 with an all-star line-up, and at a time when her voice was still in good shape. Definitely one of her best albums. (Note - this is an original 1957 album - not a cheapo reissue)
Whether you're a longtime fan eager to hear her in her finest element or a jazz novice curious as to why Billie Holiday is still so revered five decades after her passing, "Solitude" is a treasure to behold……… One that should be cherished and listened to over and over again.
Billie Holiday (vocals) Charlie Shavers (trumpet) Flip Phillips (tenor sax) Oscar Peterson (piano) Barney Kessel (guitar) Ray Brown (bass) Alvin Stoller (drums) *J.C. Heard (drums) replaces Stoller
