Sonic Arts Laboratory Series Direct-Cut Number 7 –
ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC!
This wonderful LP was produced by Sonic Arts in San Francisco with an aim toward creating one of the most "live" listening experiences on the planet.
To do so, they hired "hip cats" in jazz from the West Coast (mostly studio session guys), who played as the lathe operator wore the mics on his ears, to produce the first and perhaps only jazz binaural direct-cut record, ever.
If you listen with headphones, let me tell you, this thing sparkles with presence and detail. And I mean, up, down, side to side, and beside you. Mercy it’s good…thrilling, really.
The jazz pieces are ONEWAY TO BRAZIL, KEITH’S BLUES, SOMETIMES PLUMS SOMETIMES TURNIPS, and SPEND IT FIRST. (It's all "right there.")
A grand and mighty audiophile experience, in a gatefold cover without major fault, just has a crumpled corner. Inside, is a very heavy, direct-to-disc platter in near-mint playing condition.
Not to be missed by anyone with a state-of-the-art set of headphones. Simply incredible.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $5, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
