BING CROSBY 3 KRAFT RADIO SHOW ACETATE DISCS NBC 1941
From a pop memorabilia auction come these three 10-inch acetate records that appear to be of a complete 1941 Bing Crosby radio show. On the typewritten paper label they are identified as Bing Crosby The Kraft Music Hall NBC-net with the date 7/11/41 and the speed 33 1/3. The names Connie Boswell (should be spelt Connee Boswell) and Bob Burns are also present. The sides are numbered one to five (the sixth side is uncut). I have not attempted to play the records myself as I don't want to damage them. But I did take them along to Peter Reynolds who mastered the recent Swingin' with Bing & the Bing Crosby meets Al Jolson box sets. We played bits of the records to check them out and everything seems in good order.
Someone has written on one of the paper covers what I presume are the contents of the discs (songs, sketches etc) which corresponds almost exactly with the entry that Bing expert Steven Lewis has on his website for the Kraft radio show of 3/6/41 (6 March 1941) that also features Lionel Barrymore and Eddie Bracken.
The condition of these records is excellent. An unusual and possibly unique find for a Bing collector or anyone interested in vintage radio programs of the 1940s / forties.
