Description

Bizet-Shchedrin: The Carmen Ballet – Gennady Rozhdestvensky / Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra (Alto High-Fidelity Premium Audiophile Edition)

Available for collectors is an absolute spectacular performance and an audiophile legend: Rodion Shchedrin’s brilliant, rhythmic reimagining of Georges Bizet’s Carmen. Scored uniquely for a massive string section and 47 distinct percussion instruments, this production features the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra delivered under the explosive and masterful baton of Gennady Rozhdestvensky.

Originally recorded in Moscow by Melodiya, licensed and published by EMI / His Master's Voice in 1968, this historic performance is presented here in its ultimate acoustic presentation by the highly revered, out-of-print audiophile label Alto High-Fidelity.

About this Alto High-Fidelity Release:

Alto Analogue pressings are legendary among high-end audio enthusiasts for their strict commitment to a pure, all-analog mastering chain. Cut entirely from the original master tapes and pressed on heavy 180-gram virgin vinyl at the elite Pallas plant in Germany, this edition features zero digital artifacts, compression, or artificial smoothing. It completely preserves the sudden, lightning-fast transient snaps of the percussion, the lush depth of the Bolshoi strings, and the massive dynamic swings that make this album a premier "demo disc" for high-end audio system testing.

Release Highlights and Technical Specifications:

  • Label Authenticity: Premium 180g German audiophile pressing issued under direct license from EMI Records Ltd.

  • Collectible Certification: Stamped with Alto’s signature silver foil "Limited Edition" serial sticker on the rear of the heavy cardboard jacket.

  • Sonic Profile: A world-class reference-grade demonstration record, highly sought after by audiophiles for evaluating system speed, soundstage imaging, and low-frequency transient control.

Shipping & Handling:

The album will be packed with care inside a dedicated, heavy-duty cardboard vinyl mailer reinforced with stiff structural inserts. This completely isolates the edges of the jacket, preventing corner dings or seam splits during international transit. Shipped fast with comprehensive tracking.
