Description

Super rare original copy of Björks‘s first full length album released in 1977 in Iceland only. This is the real deal, not one of the many represses.

Taken from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rk_%28album%29):

"Björk is the first official release (considered juvenilia) from the Icelandic singer Björk. In 1976, Björk appeared on Icelandic radio singing "I Love to Love" through the music school she attended, which led her to a record deal. And so Björk, with the help of stepdad Sævar, released her first solo album in 1977.

The songs were a mixture of covers translated into Icelandic, like The Beatles hit "The Fool On The Hill" ('Álfur Út Úr Hól'), Edgar Winter's 'Alta Mira,' Melanie Safka's "Christopher Robin" ('Bænin') and Stevie Wonder's song "Your Kiss Is Sweet" ('Búkolla'), but it also contained some songs written specifically for the album, like the song "Arabadrengurinn" ('The Arab Boy') written by stepfather Sævar, and one instrumental flute-tribute to Icelandic painter Jóhannes Kjarval written & performed by 11-year old Björk herself."

Taken from The Official Björk Discography (http://unit.bjork.com/77island/early/index.htm):

"this album was only released in limited edition and is very sought-after by collectors and traders, sometimes reaching prices ranging from $100 to $700.

it was never officially released on cd! there are bootlegs in cd format, and people often mistake them for an original release, but the original is only available in lp & mc format. since 2000, there are also bootleg vinyls circulating. you can tell if it is a bootleg by the text 'limited to 1000 copies' written on the backside in white text. the original does not state this. some of the bootlegs are even in coloured vinyl. the vinyl bootleg shouldn't be sold for more than $20-$25."

Cover: VG+/EX- (No holes, rips, tears, tape, stickers, writing or anything like that. Only normal wear. The cover looks very nice overall and is in a superb condition considering that it‘s  over 30 years old. Please look at the pictures to make your own assessment).

Record: VG+/EX- (Visually graded I would say it's VG+. LP has been played and has some superfical surface/hairline marks. After listening to the album I would easily grade it EX- or even EX, plays perfectly.

Labels: EX-/EX (Look very nice, clean. Please look at the pictures to make your own assessment).

This is a "must-have" for every serious Björk collector. This album very rarely shows up and almost never in such a good condition. So don‘t miss this chance to add it to your collection.
