Ultra rare original Japanese copy of Harry Whitaker's magnum opus! Whitaker, a session pianist best known for his collaborations with Roberta Flack and Roy Ayers, famously sent his album to a private press plant in Japan – only to have it released and distributed without his knowledge or consent! The album quickly went out of print and became a storied collector's item; Ayers' Ubiquity label would finally reissue the record in the early 2000s, but this original, dubiously released version is still highly sought after. Includes its original obi strip and insert sheet!

Personnel includes Woody Shaw on trumpet, Azar Lawrence on tenor & soprano sax, David Schnitter on tenor sax, Harry Whitaker on piano, Buster Williams on bass, Billy Hart on drums (on "Black Renaissance") and percussion, Howard King on drums (on "Magic Ritual") and percussion, and Mtume and Earl Bennett on percussion, with the voices of Lani Groves, Edna Holt, Sandy nakamura, Assata Doby, Sekou Sundiata, Fikisha Cumbo, Dwight Carson, Bobby Andrews, and Andaye DeLaCruz. Recorded June 15, 1976, at Sound Ideas in New York City.
