I have for auction from my own collection this stunning copy of Black Sabbath's first album.I have owned this album for most of its life and have only played it a few times.It has been stored away from sunlight in a box which would explain why the sleeve still looks like new.This can clearly be seen in the pictures,even the black inside of the cover is pristine.This very early press has Ozzies name spelled wrongly in the the inverted cross.There are no tears,creases or scuffs at all and the spine is perfect with clear lettering.Unfortunately the previouse owner has written his name at the top rear of the sleeve.This appears to be fine ball point and is very small,about 3mm high and not at all prominent.If it were not for this writing i would have no hesitation in grading the sleeve near mint,i have not seen this sleeve in better condition.The original swirl inner sleeve is also in super condition with just a couple of creases and some age yellowing around the edges [not seen one without].As for the vinyl it is totally unmarked with all its original shine and lustre.I have examined it under strong light and can find no marks at all,not even hairline ones caused from removing from inner sleeve.The vinyl has been kept in the finest anti static inner sleeves you could buy [VRP].These were £5 for 10 sleeeves about 20 years ago.Visually i will grade the vinyl itself as mint!,it really is that good.The labels have no spindle marks or wear and still look like new.Again the previouse owner has written his name on the label in the same small print as on the sleeve.This did not put me off when i purchased it as i new i would struggle to find a better copy.I purchased it while on holiday in Hampshire with my family over 30 years ago.The audio is stunning with virtually no surface noise,i wish new vinyl was this good.These early swirl pressings were one of the best around at that time.Sound quality is of the highest order,clear with full body and great seperation making you wonder why they invented digital recordings.I have always thought this first album was Sabbath's finest,both musically and for sound quallity.My own system comprises of a Linn LP12 turntable with Ekos arm and Arkiv cartridge plus other mods including Pink Triangle power supply which would set you back around £7000.I also have the finest pre amp and power supply that Naim Audio made when purchased.Power amps are Naim NAP 135's and my speakers are Linn Isobariks.This system set me back around £18,000 so i am very fussy about my vinyl.I gave this album a clean and played it prior to listing it.The audio is truly stunning,you really would struggle to find another copy as good as this.I have just sold the other 3 swirl Sabbath albums on Ebay and each one earned me great feedback,so you can bid with confidence.This album in my opinion is the best of the 4 swirl Sabbath albums i had,and the others received top marks from all buyers!.I feel this album would go for silly money if it were not for the writing.If you have a great system and want a copy that plays perfectly then look no further.I have started the bidding at what i think is a fair opening bid and offer a full refund if not totally happy.
