Description
This is an extraordinary collector’s item: a 1970 acetate test pressing of Black Sabbath’s debut album on the Elektra red “Big E” label, featuring hand-typed labels and a notable typo — “Balck Sabbath” on Side One.
This pressing was never commercially released by Elektra and is likely a pre-release test or internal audition copy made for review. The label includes typed track listings, housed in a generic maroon library-style cover, characteristic of Elektra acetates from the late ’60s and early ’70s.
Tracklist:
Side One:
1. Balck Sabbath (spelling error)
2. The Wizard
3. Wasp
4. Behind the Wall of Sleep
5. Basically
6. N.I.B.
Side Two:
1. Wicked World
2. A Bit of Finger
3. Sleeping Village
4. Warning
Condition Notes:
• Vinyl (VG+): Strong VG+ with mild surface during quieter parts. Plays excellently overall.
• Cover (VG+): Generic maroon sleeve shows light shelf wear. No splits or major damage.
Highlights:
• Hand-typed labels
• Elektra test pressing (not commercially released)
• Rare typo makes it potentially one-of-a-kind
• Highly desirable for Black Sabbath and label collectors
