For sale here is a VERY rare LP. the FIRST (especially in this condition) by BLACK SABBATH called " BLACK SABBATH " and is an ORIGINAL 1970 UK STEREO 1st Pressing on the 1st Press VERTIGO SWIRL label. THIS LP IS MEGA RARE AND VERY DIFFICULT TO LOCATE. THIS IS ONE OF BLACK SABBATH's RAREST LP's EVER, AND HARDLY EVER TURNS UP FOR SALE... Labels are the sensational Vertigo swirl format featuring the ultra rare 'dunbar' credits in excellent condition. With the largeVirtigo swirl logo covering the whole label on side A. and the small vertigo swirl above the central hole on side B. to confirm that this is the very first issue of this magnificent rarity. Only a few tiny faint spindle lines are visible whatsoever, and NO damage of any kind. NO graffiti , NO rips NO tears or stickers,and would therefore  grade as excellent++ condition.!!!

Vinyl

Thickly pressed heavy weight  vinyl pressing with jet black mirrior like surfaces That have that just pressed look!!. A magnificent vintage classic . Against a strong halogen light and angled at 45 degrees , There are NO surface marks,NO scratches or blemishes at all, and NO wispy lines are visible whatsoever. Remarkable visual and impossible to locate in this condition.Would therefore grade as excellent +++/ as near as mint!!!!!

Sleeve

First issue gatefold sleeve is showing virtually no signs of wear at all, other than a slight sticker tear to the front under black sabbath, but has NO rips, NO tears, NO graffitti, NO stickers whatsoever and is a pleasure to view.The sleeve is in Excellent ++condition with the lyrics printed on the cross on the inside of the gatefold and the miss-spelt ossie credits, and is a Fantastic collectors item . The ultra rare wide spine is straight and is clearly legible.This is a fine example of this sensational Vertigo swirl classic .

Black Sabbath is the debut album by the British rock band Black Sabbath. It was released in the United Kingdom on Friday the 13th of February 1970. The album is often regarded as one of the first heavy metal albums

Music and lyrics

Musically and lyrically the album was considered quite "dark" for the time. The first song on the album is based almost entirely on a tritone interval played at slow tempo on the electric guitar. The song's lyrics concern a "figure in black" which bass player Geezer Butler saw after waking up from a nightmare.

Similarly, the lyrics of the song "N.I.B." are written from the point of view of Lucifer. Contrary to popular belief, the name of that song is not an acronym for "Nativity In Black". Tony Iommi said in several interviews that it is merely a reference to drummer Bill Ward's pointed goatee at the time, which was shaped as a pen-nib.

Lyrics of two other songs on the album were written about supernatural-themed stories. "Behind the Wall of Sleep" is a reference to the H. P. Lovecraft short story Beyond the Wall of Sleep, while "The Wizard" was inspired by the character of Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings.[3] The latter includes harmonica performed by vocalist Ozzy Osbourne.

Both the songs "Warning" and "Evil Woman" are covers of blues songs, with lyrics regarding relationships. The first was written and performed by Aynsley Dunbar's Retaliation, and the second was written and performed by the band Crow.

The album cover features a depiction of Mapledurham Watermill, situated on the River Thames in Oxfordshire, England. Standing in front of the watermill is a figure dressed in black robes. This is perhaps an allusion to the lyrics of their eponymous song: "A figure in black, which points at me". On the original release, the inner gatefold sleeve featured an inverted cross with a poem written inside of it. Vertigo, the band's record label, was allegedly responsible for adding the cross. The band was upset when they discovered this, as it fuelled allegations that they were Satanists or Occultists.[citation needed]

MINT (M): Unplayed, pristine condition, often still sealed.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in almost brand new condition with no apparent surface marks, full original vinyl lustre, and no deterioration in sound quality.The cover and any extra items are in near perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and/or packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record obviously has been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and/or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably, perhaps with some distortion and/or scratches. The cover and/or contents may suffer from folding, scuffing, spine-splits, major discolouration, etc.
