Black Sabbaths third album Master of Reality.
Original 1973 Vertigo Spaceship label re-issue 6360 050, (not WWA or NEMS re-release).
Box Sleeve with Vertigo swirl in left top corner, Purple/black text, slight wear to top and bottom edges, lamination showing signs of loosening, spine text legible. Printed in UK (see notes below).
Inner sleeve - Plain - slight discolouring and some creases.

Side 1, Vertigo spaceship (UFO) label with 'made in England' text, spindle hole good condition slight discolouration where a small label was previously attached, no scratches or scuffs. run off matrix - 6360 050 1Y/1 420 11 33.
Side 2, Vertigo spaceship (UFO) label very good condition with 'made in England' text, no scratches or scuffs. Run off matrix 6360 050 2Y/1 420 17 2.
Several sources state the following:-
In 1973 when the band decided they wanted their own label and more contol of the money which went with it WWA Records was set up, however manufacture and distribution was still to be handled by Vertigo. With this change the band also secured the rights to their back catalogue (Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality and Volume 4) which meant that from mid 1973 onwards Vertigo no longer had the rights to issue these albums on the Vertigo label in the UK. In addition at this time Vertigo changed their label design, dropping the swirl pattern and introducing a design by Roger Dean which was known as the Spaceship or sometimes UFO design.
It appears that Vertigo attempted to cash in on a re-issue of the first 4 albums before losing the rights, and produced these using the new label design, however for some reason this run was swiftly halted and alledgedly only 500 copies of each album were distributed. These issues can be identified by the 'made in England' label credit and the '420' number in the run off groove which denotes the pressing as a UK manufactured one. It also appears that the covers for these issues came in a variety of types - some laminated and others not laminated. In addition the country of manufacture for the covers also vary - possibly due to Vertigo using up left over stock rather than producing fresh versions for these re-issues.
Towards the end of 1973 the first 4 albums were re-released on the WWA label.

This album is not a pristine copy which has been stored, but a personal copy purchased by myself in the 1970s which I have decided to sell rather than have it remain in a box in the attic. I have described it as accurately as possible as a used and played copy. Please look at the photographs before bidding..
