BLACK SABBATH, SABBATH BLOODY..1973 UK WWA 1st ISSUE

Here for auction is an exceptional example of the studio album by BLACK SABBATH titled ‘SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH”, Catalogue Number WWA 005 SUPER DE LUXE. This is an ORIGINAL 1973 UK STEREO PRESSING on the WWA RECORD LABEL with the 1st issue un-laminated gatefold sleeve and the correct 1st issue paper lyric inner sleeve.

The un-laminated gatefold sleeve, with “Manufactured and Printed in England” text on the back cover, is in EX condition (strictly graded) only the lightest of wear and a few minor creases. The front and back covers and gatefold spread are unmarked apart from a small price impression mark on the top right corner of the front cover. The spine is square and solid with perfect text. There is a short crack to the middle of the top right edge caused by a knock from the record inside, but this is barely noticeable.

The top quality WWA record retains it’s ‘just pressed’ shine and sits flat and true on the turntable. It is a nice solid pressing with a tapered rim edge. Visually both sides are in EX+ condition with beautiful clean playing surfaces. There are just a few very light sleeve-removal type surface marks evident under bright light. These are of course purely superficial and do not cause any audio problems whatsoever. The beautiful WWA labels are unmarked with only a few faint spindle traces near the centres. I am confident that the record has only been played a few times.

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

Both sides play essentially as new, with no deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all. The audio quality is outstanding. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence. You simply will not find a significantly better-playing copy of this wonderful album – I guarantee it. 

The fragile paper lyric inner sleeve is in unmarked EX+ condition.

GRADINGS

The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:

·         MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.

·         EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.

·         VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.

PACKAGING & POSTAGE

Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
