Black Sabbath : Technical Ecstasy 1Y5 / 2Y5 1st Press 1976
This first pressing plays to an incredible standard with barely any intrusion. I have graded every track as Mint or Mint- except 'Gypsy' which I have graded as Near Mint but only due to some inner groove distortion which is a common on any record. The clarity, depth and power of the audio is outstanding and two of my favourites, 'You Won't Change Me' and 'She's Gone' are incredible! Sonic masterpieces! The production quality is often criticised on this LP but I was quite impressed overall, it is certainly better than I remembered. It helps when a vinyl has been so well preserved as per this one.
The cover is in excellent condition and the lyric insert is in superb shape with hardly any wear. The original inner sleeve is in great condition also.
This first pressing is listed as one of the earliest on Discogs and has the MELYS etching on both run outs.

Visual description
The vinyl is in great condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a few faint hairlines but they are purely superficial of course, there is nothing that stands out. There is no groove or surface wear and the Vertigo spaceship labels are close to perfect with only very little spindle wear.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Back Street Kids' plays perfectly with that typical deep, rich Sabbath sound and the opening vocal section is equally as strong. It continues to play with genuine quality and with zero intrusion. This album is not exactly known for its 'production values' but there is no doubting the audio quality. Every vocal and instrumental are 'as new' without any background. A Mint start to the album for sure.
The quiet build up intro on 'You Won't Change Me' plays so clearly with only a couple of minor statics and as Iommi comes in the playback is stunning and is certainly a reminder of early Sabbath. The opening two verses play without fault and the standard does not drop. The mid instrumental is superb and the next vocal has no interference either. Woodroffe's keyboard adds a lot to this track and does not diminish the Sabbath brand in my opinion. After all they did experiment on the earlier albums. The remainder plays with stunning clarity and definition with only 3/4 minor statics on the fade out. Mint-
'It's Alright' is 'as new' from start to finish with no intrusion. Ward on writing and vocal duties and it just could not play any better including the fade out. Mint all the way.
Ward's percussive intro on 'Gypsy' is perfect as is Iommi's piece. Ozzy's opening vocal has no background and the instrumental bridge is just as clean and strong. From then on it plays so well for a final track - perhaps not quite as 'clean' and precise as the previous tracks but not that different. Sonically it is still very strong with only very minimal inner groove distortion. Iommi's solo at the end is superb! Let's say Near Mint
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'All Moving Parts (Stand Still)' plays with stunning quality throughout. Butler's bass is very prominent here and sounds great! It is perhaps a step too far experimentally but there are still elements of Sabbath here and there. I think part of the problem production wise is Ozzy's vocal sound. Blame it on Iommi I guess as he was left as the sole producer for this album! Anyway, I digress... every section here is so strong and clear and there are only a handful of minor statics on the fade out so I will say Mint- accordingly.
'Rock 'N' Roll Doctor' plays with superb audio from the first note to the last. Put simply there is no background not even a solitary static sound and Mint is 100% deserved.
The orchestral / acoustic opening on 'She's Gone' plays beautifully with no intrusion and the opening vocal section is equal to that with a stunning clarity of sound. The orchestral break is 'as new' and I cannot overstate just how good this section is. It's one of those ballads that Sabbath do so well and it's a shame the production isn't better. In saying the instrumental passages play with phenomenal quality and the end there is no background. A STUNNING Mint version, the most 'complete' version you could ever wish to hear :-)
'Dirty Women' ends the album with great quality once more. It's the longest track here and there is no background to be heard. Great work from Iommi and Ward as per usual and there is no inner groove distortion, just production / recording issues if you ask me. The end section is so powerful with Iommi taking centre stage although Ward really gives him a run for his money with his frenetic drumming! A superb Mint- version.
The Cover, Lyric Insert & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition with minimal shelf wear. The edges are very clean and the spine is 10% legible with only a couple of minor indents and some light wear near the top and on the corner. This really is the most 'obvious' wear but even then it's not a major issue! The other corners are in great shape with barely any wear and the opening edge is pristine. The front cover has some light marking next to the spine but aside from that it is very clean with just a touch of ringwear next to the right edge and hardly any spotting . The back cover is again in great condition with minimal ringwear. A fine example overall.
The lyric insert is in superb shape with only a couple of tiny faint spots and 2/3 very faint, hardly worth a mention, creases. The original poly-lined Plastic Bags inner has no side splits or tears and has just some glue residue showing through on top edges and much less on the bottom edges.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
