BLACKROCK "YEAH YEAH" / BAD CLOUD OVERHEAD ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by BLACKROCK. Original US pressing on SELECT O HITS label (S.O.H 006), from circa 1972. Outstanding psychedelic funk double-sider. BLACKROCK YEAH YEAH is the killer theme with the spoken word - looped piano - mesmerising guitar intro before sinking into a sleazy funk rock groove with hip hop / B-boy drum patterns and cool fuzz solos to the fade. Lots of hypnotic licks and beats by this black psych group from the Memphis underground. Great for DJs with booming production sound. Comped on the influential Chains And Black Exhaust selection by Dante Carfagna for the Memphix label. Should appeal to fans of Purple Image / Demon Fuzz / Black Merda / Baby Huey et al. The BAD CLOUD OVERHEAD side is also amazing. Think edgy psychedelia with snotty hip vocals / raw basslines / jangly guitars / fuzz distortions and prog organ all played with punishing force. Lots more turgid beats and messed-up rhythms on this super-cool side too. Top copy, closer to M- overall. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG

Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines / light scuffs from sleeve removal. Some light surface noises but most probably due to the actual pressing. Booming production sound. A couple of tiny pressing craters in the vinyl. Item will be housed in a plain white card sleeve with additional poly lined inner. Rare 45!!!
