This is no halfhearted lip service release to mark the London indie icons' debut album anniversary, this is a monumental effort by all those involved, as they've brought together - in addition to the Silent Alarm album over two discs - an additional double LP featuring rare demos, B-sides, and live session recordings. Moreover, there's a 24-page booklet filled with never-before-seen personal photos of the band and exclusive liner notes. Of albums from the mid-00s indie rock boom, few stand the test of time as well as Silent Alarm. It's one of the best debuts by any rock band ever, with hits 'Like Eaing Glass', 'Helicopter', 'The Modern Love' and 'Banquet' undeniable bangers. Whilst Bloc Party are still touring today, the classic line-up featured on this album with Gordon Moakes on bass, Matt Tong on drums, Russell Lissack on guitar and of course the mighty Kele Okereke as frontman is the definitive one that most people come to think of when they think of Bloc Party. A legendary group deserving of this massive retrospective.
