Description
A few months back, over a couple of fun trips, I bought a huge vinyl collection from a friend who worked with me at Phantom Records (in the '90's) and who'd amassed a gigantic collection of wonderfully kept and thoroughly researched LP's, 7"s and relevant 12"s - from the classic punk era (1976-1981) was his specialty, but also records from the few years after that era, as some of those bands progressed into the mid-'80's while keeping their integrity intact (the likes of Public Image, Siouxsie, the Cure spring to mind). To give you an example of his fastidiousness, his collection includes 60 different editions of the Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" LP - from every conceivable country, and every edition he could uncover. Anyway, he's been particular about maintaining items in their original condition - most he bought brand new at the time...(however this may mean that some he picked up second-hand weren't exactly mint to start with - those will be obvious by the gradings below). He'd been buying records I believe from about 1975/76 right up until recently. It's a truly wonderful collection; he'd not sold any of it previously so it was complete - some of the items are super rare and some are simply very nice copies of classic records - and I felt utterly privileged to be offered it first. Mostly though, YOU get to benefit from his meticulousness.

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: Yes...indeed...it's the very first test pressing...early enough that Festival didn't even have confirmation of the title yet, thus tagged as merely "BLONDIE NEW L.P." on the labels...and with the catalogue number marked as "CYL-36504" - when eventually released it was trimmed to "L-36504"...it also has different matrix details in the run-off grooves, to the one eventually released...
Festival's normal pressing run of test pressings was 4 copies, occasionally 6 (I was regularly involved with their pressing plant from 1980 till 1989) and I doubt it'd be any different for this release...
CONDITION:
COVER/VINYL: ( EX / EX )...super-shiny vinyl with just a couple of very light surface scuffs/marks only...(plays perfectly!)...cover is so close to mint, which is quite amazing for its 35 years - it's a matt cover and suffers from ringwear normally...but not this one!...
LABELS: (Side One: MINT / Side Two: MINT )...has only ONE spindle mark on one of the labels...possibly only played just that once (that's how clean it looks!)...
