Artist:  HORACE SILVER Quintet

                                     

Title:   “Horace Silver Quintet, Vol. 1”

 

Label:   BLUE NOTE 10” series.  Monaural pressing on thick vinyl with deep groove and flat edge.  Label address on both sides is “767 Lexington Ave N Y C.” 

 

Etched RVG with “ear” symbol in runout, on both sides. 

 

Catalog number is BLP 5058.   

 

Year:  1954.

 

Personnel:   Kenny Dorham – trumpet;  Hank Mobley - tenor sax;  Horace Silver – piano;  Doug Watkins – bass;  Art Blakey – drums. 

 

 

Condition: 

 

DISC:  Vinyl is nice VG++ with 100% of original gloss, appears to have been played a very small number of times and handled with care.  There are a few very minor scuffs, not audible save for an occasional isolated soft tic, and the fidelity is excellent.  Labels are clean.  This is a great sounding record.

 

JACKET:  “Frame” jacket is nice VG+ with minor shelf wear, but no serious problems.  There is a bit of minor cracking in the top seam, approx. 3 inches, but no splits.  Front art work is bright and clean.  Reverse has darkened slightly with age, but overall is very clean.  Small pencil notation in upper right corner indicates original store price.  Overall a very nice jacket.
