Description

Here's a very nice Victor race 78 by Sleepy John Estes, recorded in Memphis in September 1929. Estes is accompanied by James "Yank" Rachel on mandolin on both sides, Jab Jones on piano on "Diving Duck Blues," and possibly Johnny Hardge on piano on "The Girl I Love She Got Long Curly Hair." Condition is E-V+ on "Diving Duck" and V+ on the flip side, with some very light scuffs and a few small scratches, and a small bite out of the edge (see photo) that touches the first groove but does not affect the music. There is also a long scratch on the label on one side and china marker on the label on both sides (see photos). Overall, considering the rarity of this record, this is a very fine copy! I have run many auctions over the past 22 years and have never had a single complaint on my grading or shipping methods, so bid with confidence! Winner to pay actual shipping cost, via media mail or Priority Mail, your choice. Insurance is optional for domestic shipping only (not available for international customers), but I will not be responsible for packages that are lost if not insured. I will ship within 48 hours if paid by Money Order, payment by personal check requires two week wait for check to clear. No PayPal, please. I will notify winner by email shortly after the auction closes, please do not use eBay checkout.
